01 · Overview
The opportunity
Our web team designs sites and web products that have to do two things at once: feel distinctive enough to be remembered, and convert well enough to defend a CFO's budget. We're hiring a Web Designer who treats both as the same problem. You'll concept, design, prototype, and document — and partner closely with engineering so the work ships the way it was drawn.
02 · A day in the life
What the week looks like
Monday is concept and sitemap work for a new build. Tuesday you're in Figma extending a design system into edge cases — empty states, error states, the form nobody designed. Wednesday is a prototype review and a working session with engineering. Thursday is craft polish on a launch shipping Friday. End of week is a post-launch review and notes for the next sprint.
03 · What you'll own
The work itself
- 1Concept and execute end-to-end site designs, from sitemap to ship.
- 2Build and document design systems engineering can actually use.
- 3Prototype interactions and motion to communicate intent, not just static screens.
- 4Partner with engineering through the build, not just at handoff.
- 5Own performance and accessibility as design decisions, not afterthoughts.
04 · What success looks like
How we'll measure it
01
Sites you ship look distinctive, perform well on Core Web Vitals, and convert against a written benchmark.
02
The design systems you document reduce rework on the next project.
03
Engineering tells you the handoff is the cleanest they've worked with.
05 · What you bring
The fit
Must-haves
- A portfolio of shipped sites you can talk through line by line.
- Figma mastery, including components, variants, and auto-layout at scale.
- Real web craft — type at scale, motion, performance, accessibility.
- Light front-end fluency (HTML, CSS, basic React) so handoffs are realistic.
Bonus points
- Experience designing for headless CMS, e-commerce, or product surfaces.
- Motion design or prototyping with Framer, Rive, or After Effects.
